Chef Catherine Margles, MBA

Catherine MarglesCatherine Margles is the President and Founder of the Creative Cooking School. The Creative Cooking School was founded in 2002 and is the only recreational cooking school in Las Vegas. The Creative Cooking School is also the location for University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV) and Community College of Southern Nevada (CCSN) Continuing Culinary Education Programs.

Catherine is a firm believer in education. She is a Committee Member of the Nevada Culinary Arts Joint Technical Skills Committee. Catherine also saw a need for an accelerated Professional Chef Program for culinary students in Las Vegas. The only Culinary programs available for students in Las Vegas were all eighteen months or longer in duration. So, in conjunction with the UNLV Educational Outreach program, she developed the states first accredited accelerated Professional Chef Certificate Program.

Catherine was born and raised in Chicago and has been cooking for over thirty years. She has traveled extensively all over the world to educate her palate on many of the world’s finest cuisines. Her culinary education includes studies at Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago and in Paris France at the Le Cordon Bleu and at The Ritz Escoffier. She has also participated in classes under the guidance of the world-renowned wine sommeliers at the Enoteca Italia in Siena, Italy and studied under the famous Tuscan Chef, Giancarlo Gianelli. Catherine has also been a Key Note Speaker and recently hosted the "Taste" of Las Vegas’s Cooking Demonstration Pavilion. Catherine is also "Serv-Safe" Manager/Instructor certified by the National Restaurant Association and International Food Council. She is also a registered ServSafe Instructor and Proctor for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF).

She followed in her father’s footsteps by graduating from college with a degree in Accounting and beginning her career in the business field. After earning an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the prestigious J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and fifteen successful years in the finance and investment arena she decided to pursue her dreams of cooking and writing. She studied journalism and creative writing at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism and the University of Chicago.

Catherine is currently writing the book, “The Winning Chefs of Las Vegas” and has interviewed many of the top Chefs in the world. She has come to understand how these great chefs got to where they are today and she would like to share that with her students and readers. Over the years, Catherine has attended numerous culinary classes in the United States and overseas. Catherine’s desire to share her passion for cooking has inspired her to open the “Creative Cooking School.” The school classes are designed for children, beginners, intermediate, and advanced students wishing to broaden their culinary horizons.

Catherine has been featured in newspaper, magazines and television. She is considered an expert in cooking and management issues. Catherine is featured in the upcoming Workplace 2005 February issue of Entrepreneur Magazine. Her Profnet profile is available through Prnewswire. A full listing of her media accomplishments can be found at: http://www.creativecookingschool.com/PressList.asp
